Memphis, TN : A pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi-truck crash at Danny Thomas Boulevard On Tuesday, May 4th, 2016

Interstate 40 at Danny Thomas Boulevard was shut down after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi-truck.

I-40 opened back up after being closed while police investigated the scene for over an hour in one of the city's busiest areas.

The truck driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police during the investigation.

Investigators said the pedestrian was attempting to across the interstate at the time of the accident. The impact knocked the pedestrian into a guardrail.

According to emergency crews, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene when crews arrived.

The pedestrian's identity has not been released at this time.

Police said the driver will not be charged.
