LOUISVILLE, KY : 3 die in wrong-way crash on bridge on Sunday, 6th September, 2020
Three people died in a wrong-way crash on a bridge connecting Kentucky and southern Indiana, officials said.
Four vehicles were involved in the Sunday night crash on the Sherman Minton Bridge that carries Interstate 64 over the Ohio River, police in Louisville, Kentucky, told news outlets. A preliminary investigation found that a Kia SUV was going east in the westbound left lane while three other vehicles were in the same lane and headed west, police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.
One vehicle swerved into another lane and the Kia SUV hit a Kia Soul, head-on, and then hit another vehicle, Mitchell said.
The driver of the Kia SUV and the driver and passenger of the Kia Soul were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.
