HARBOR SPRINGS, MI : Alanson man dies following North Conway Road crash on Wednesday, 25th December, 2019

An Alanson man died Wednesday as a result of injuries he received two days earlier in a one-vehicle crash in Little Traverse Township, Emmet County Sheriff Pete Wallin said.

The sheriff said injuries proved fatal for Nicholas Carson, 37, who was taken to McLaren Northern Michigan hospital following the crash on Monday along North Conway Road near Hathaway Road.

The crash occurred at about 6:40 a.m. Monday, as Carson was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck southbound on North Conway Road. Wallin said Carson was attempting to pass another southbound vehicle when he lost control of the truck, which then left the west side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Wallin said Carson was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred. There were no indications that alcohol or drugs factored in the crash, the sheriff said, noting that Carson was heading to work at the time.

Along with the sheriff’s office and its victim services unit, other agencies responding to the crash included Emmet County EMS and the Harbor Springs Area Fire Department, Wallin said.
