BOYCE, VA : 4-year-old girl was killed in a crash on John Mosby on Monday, 14th May 2018

A 4-year-old girl was killed Monday morning in a crash on John Mosby Highway (U.S. 50) in Clarke County, a quarter-mile west of the Thornton Road intersection.

Nevah Bushrod was in the left backseat of a westbound 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette driven by Yvette J. Williams, of Marshall, when the crash occurred just after 7 a.m., according to state police spokesman Sgt. F.L “Les” Tyler. He said Williams lost control of the van, veered left off the road, over-corrected, then veered left again and struck the median and rolled over. He said he didn’t know what caused her to lose control of the van.

The girl, who wasn’t properly restrained, was thrown from the vehicle. Also thrown from the van was William’s 10-year-old son, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt. He also was a passenger in the backseat.

Williams, 36, and her 12-year-old son, who was a front-seat passenger, were wearing seat belts. They weren’t ejected from the vehicle.

Bushrod was pronounced dead at 9:14 a.m. at Winchester Medical Center, Tyler said.

Williams and her sons were hospitalized at WMC. Citing a medical privacy law, Tyler wouldn’t give their conditions or the names of the two boys.

Tyler said he didn’t know the relationship between Williams and the girl.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The speed limit in the area of the crash is 55 mph.
