Two people suffered serious injuries in a Thursday night crash in north Escambia County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
At around 7:50 p.m., a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Justin Elliot, 19, of Atmore, Alabama, was traveling north on County Road 99, north of Godwin Road, as Patricia Griener, 28, of Brewton, Alabama, was traveling south on County Road 99 approaching Godwin in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee.
Elliot failed to maintain a single lane and the front of his Tahoe struck the front of the Cherokee, according to FHP. The Tahoe came to a final rest facing east in the southwest lane on County Road 99, with the Cherokee facing east in the west ditch.
Both drivers were seriously injured and were medically evacuated to hospitals by helicopter. Elliot was taken to Baptist Hospital and Griener to Sacred Heart. Both are in stable condition at this time.
