Jim Thorpe, PA: Child Killed in Crash on PA Turnpike on Monday, July 20th 2015

The coroner said a child was killed in a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Carbon County.The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes just south of the Mahoning Valley exit.According to turnpike officials, both lanes are closed due to the crash and drivers are encouraged to exit at the Lehigh Valley exit.Turnpike officials said one vehicle crashed and six people were injured. Medical helicopters were called to the scene.
