Two people were transported to Mission Hospital with minor injuries Tuesday morning after a piece of heavy equipment fell off a tractor-trailer onto a car, said Asheville Fire Department spokeswoman Kelley Klope.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 40 westbound near exit 53 and had all westbound lanes shut down as crews worked to clear the scene, officials say.
