Groveland, MA : Haverhill woman charged after driving into house in Groveland on Wednesday, December 31, 2014
A woman who drove a car into a house Wednesday night was charged with her second offense of driving while under the influence of drugs, police said.
No injuries were reported. Police described the damage to the house at 88 School St. as minor.
Krystyna Ewart, 46, of 151 Franklin St., Haverhill, was also charged with negligent operation and failure to stay within marked lanes. Officer Joshua Sindoni made the arrest.
Groveland police responded around 8:30 p.m. on a report of a motor vehicle into a house. Upon arrival, officer Joshua Sindoni found a vehicle had crashed through a fire hydrant, continued through a fence, and crashed into the foundation of the house.
The Groveland Fire Department responded to assess Ewart and the condition of the house. According to a police report, Ewart was uninjured. The occupants of the house were likewise not harmed, and the house received some damage to the foundation, but the building was not destroyed.
Ewart reportedly made statements indicating she had taken Valium or Xanax. She failed several field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.
She was held pending her arraignment in Haverhill District Court today.
