Everett,WA : Northbound Highway 529 was closed between Everett and Marysville after a crash on Friday afternoon October 3rd 2014
Northbound Highway 529 was closed for about an hour between Everett and Marysville after a crash Friday afternoon.
The highway was re-reopened around 2:10 p.m. after crews found no damage to the Snohomish River Bridge.
A Freightliner semitruck was northbound, carrying a flatbed trailer about 1 p.m., said trooper Mark Francis of the Washington State Patrol.
The trailer had an oversized load of scaffolding and aluminum steps designed for marine use. The load was being taken from Clearview to Anacortes.
The load struck several support beams on the bridge, Francis said. No one was hurt, and no other cars were involved.
The driver, a 62-year-old Snohomish man, is expected to receive multiple citations totaling $478, Francis said.
The violations include a permit offense for the lack of a needed pilot car, not having proper medical clearance to drive the rig and having defective equipment
such as straps.
Highway 529 carries roughly one-third of Everett’s northbound traffic.
When a drunken-driving crash closed the highway in 2012, the evening commute stalled for hours.
Highway 529 is nearly 90 years old.
