Montgomery, AL : Pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate-85 on Sunday, July 3, 2016

Police have confirmed a pedestrian was killed in an early morning accident Sunday after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate-85.

The victim, who remains unidentified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate-85 at the Eastern Boulevard exit, according to Lt. Denise Barnes, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department.

Police and medics responded to the area at about 4:30 a.m. after receiving the call that a pedestrian had sustained injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.
