A Jacksonville man was killed after falling off a farm tractor on NC 132 about six miles north of Wilmington Tuesday afternoon.
According to State Highway Patrol officials, William Keith Stone, 52, was operating the farm tractor along the shoulder of the road when he struck a culvert in a ditch around 4:15 p.m., causing him to fall off.
Investigators said Stone fell underneath the bush hog, an apparatus that cuts grass and brush, attached to the tractor.
Emergency crews responded and took Stone to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
