Three people killed in Nicholas car crash in West Virginia
Three traffic accidents within two days on West Virginia roads have left seven people dead and 13 others injured.Tuesday afternoon, three people were killed in a car accident on U.S. 19 near Mount Lookout in Nicholas County, according to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.Donnie Greene, 58, of Rolling Acres in Cowen, was traveling south when he veered off the right side of the roadway and struck the rear end of a 1996 Kenworth that was parked on the side of the road because of mechanical problems.He, along with passenger Sherry Greene, 41, also of Rolling Acres, died at the scene.A second passenger, Jonathan Bibb, 18, also of Rolling Acres, was transported to Charleston where he later died of his injuries.A 4-month-old baby boy was also in the vehicle and was transported to Summersville Regional Medical Center.No updates were available Wednesday about the condition of the child.Sgt. B.J. Holdren is investigating the incident and Sgt. P.D. Kutcher is assisting.Early Wednesday three people returning to Elkins from a funeral in Maryland died when their car crossed the center line and collided with an Asplundh Tree Expert Co. pickup truck.The accident occurred around 5 a.m. on U.S. 219 south of Thomas, West Virginia State Police Sgt. Christopher Siler said.Two victims were children, an 8-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. A 20-year-old man also was killed, Siler said.A 29-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl were injured and were taken to a hospital in Morgantown, where they were in critical condition. Three people in the truck were not injured, he said.
