New York, NY : Woman struck and killed by vehicle crossing street in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, October 14, 2014

New York City police are investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lower Manhattan. It happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Canal and Elizabeth streets. Police say the victim was found unresponsive lying on Canal Street. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police say she was crossing Canal when she was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by a 64-year-old man. The driver remained on the scene.
