Police say one person is dead and nine injured after a crash involving two SUVs in Newport News.
Police said in a statement that the crash happened Saturday at about 3:15 p.m.
Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford SUV with eight people onboard failed to obey a stop sign and hit a Chevrolet SUV carrying two people. The Ford flipped on its roof.
Police say the Ford’s driver was an 18-year-old male and the person who died was a passenger in the Ford, 20-year-old Chucky Rodriguez.
Police initially said that at least one of the injured appeared to have serious injuries. Police said Sunday that the status of the injured was unknown.
Police say they’ll review the case with prosecutors to determine if anyone will be charged.
