Lawsonville, NC : Two Stokes County paramedics injured in ambulance crash on Sunday morning, February 28, 2016

Two paramedics have been injured when an ambulance they were riding in collided with another vehicle.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. J.M. Church tells local media that the wreck happened Sunday morning in rural Stokes County. He says paramedics Fred Lawson and Josh Booker were on their way back to their base from an emergency call when a driver ran a stop sign. The ambulance struck the side of the vehicle.

Both paramedics and the vehicle's driver were hurt. Booker was taken via helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he was in stable condition Sunday night.

The other two men were taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Church says the driver who ran the stop sign wasn't impaired. Charges against him are pending.
