Manatee County, FL : Six people injured in crash caused by red-light runner on Monday evening, December 28, 2015
Six people were injured three of them seriously after a car ran a red light Monday evening.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:
David Betancourt, 22, of Bradenton was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo east on 51st Avenue East approaching the intersection with U.S. 301. According to witnesses, the Aveo entered the intersection on a yellow light and continued to turn when the light cycled to red.
The Aveo collided with a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Rey Treharn, 56, of Gibsonton. Treharn sustained critical injures and was transported to Blake Medical Center.
Betancourt was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital with minor injuries.
Four others in his car also were injured.
Alan Betancourt, 14, of Bradenton was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital with serious injuries.
Gabriela Beltran, 15, of Bradenton was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital with minor injuries.
Miguel Beltran, 16, was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital with critical injuries.
A 21-year-old woman was taken to Blake Medical center with critical injuries. Her name was not released pending notification of her relatives.
Betancourt was charged with running a red light and no proof of insurance.
