A woman died when her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Interstate 5 and hit a semi truck and trailer Thursday morning. The driver of the semi truck was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The crash investigation and cleanup brought I-5 to a halt in both directions. Investigators said it appears the woman was northbound on I-5 in a passenger car around 10:39 a.m. when her vehicle traveled across the median and into southbound lanes. The car hit a southbound semi. After impact, the semi traveled across the median into the northbound lanes, where it jackknifed and overturned, state police said. The car's driver died at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries. The crash closed all lanes of I-5 in both directions. One lane south was open by 1:18 p.m. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, traffic was moving in both directions.
