WILTON, CT : Drunk driver causes Wilton car wreck on Friday, 2nd September 2016
A two-car accident resulted when a drunk driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a car traveling in the opposite direction, police said.
Police said that James Ahstrom, 62, was traveling north on Nod Hill Road at approximately 8 p.m. when he passed over the double yellow line and struck another vehicle traveling south.
Though both cars were disabled by the collision, police reported that no one was injured in the accident.
When police arrived on scene, they reported that the stench of alcohol was strong on Ahstrom’s breath. The responding officers then administered the field sobriety test to Ahstrom, which he was unable to perform.
Ahstrom was later found to have a blood alcohol content of .1625 in his initial test and then .1659 in his second.
Ahstrom faces charges of driving under the influence, driving without insurance and failure to right. He was released around midnight on a $260 bond, and is expected to appear in court on Sept. 8.
