Anderson, CA : Man arrested for DUI after crashing into tree near Stingy Lane and Balls Ferry Road on Saturday, May9, 2015
The Anderson Police Department arrested a man after officers responded to a traffic collision and said he was driving under the influence.
On Saturday, at approximately 8:39 p.m. the Anderson police received a report of a traffic collision in the area of Stingy Lane and Ballsferry Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a blue BMW had collided into a tree. Officers discovered Samuel Owen, 31, of Anderson, had been the driver of the vehicle.
A 20-year-old man from Redding was a passenger in the vehicle, and suffered a broken leg from the collision. He was taken to a local hospital. Owen refused medical treatment at the scene.
According to Anderson police, Owen displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication, prompting officers to conduct a DUI investigation. Officers determined Owen had been operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
He was placed under arrest for DUI with injury.
Owen was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and then transported to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked for felony DUI with injury.
