Monte Alto, TX : Crecencio Delgado, 35, struck and killed after auto-pedestrian crash in Monte Alto on Sunday, February 15, 2015

A 35-year-old man died around midnight Sunday after he was struck by a car as he crossed a rural road.

Crecencio Delgado, of Monte Alto, failed to yield before crossing Valdez Road near Calle de Monte Street about 12:40 a.m., causing the driver of a 2002 Ford Mustang traveling west to hit him. The driver stopped to render aid but Delgado died at the scene, authorities say.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the fatal crash. They have not released the name of the driver or if alcohol was a factor in this case. No one had been charged in connection to the crash as of Sunday afternoon, agency spokesman Sgt. Johnny Hernandez said.
