Underwood,ND : One killed in accident near Underwood on June, Saturday 24th 2017

One person was killed in a one-vehicle accident near Underwood, N.D., Saturday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

A 17-year-old boy from Mandan was driving a 2006 Honda Accord with two passengers southbound on U.S. Highway 83. The passengers, a 20-year-old man from Mandan and a 19-year-old woman from Bismarck, were not identified.


About 2 1/2 miles south of Underwood the driver was distracted by something in the car, the patrol said. The vehicle crossed the rumble strip, the driver overcorrected, and the vehicle entered the ditch and rolled. All three occupants in the car were ejected.

One passenger died at the scene, the patrol said. The driver and the other passenger were transported to Sanford Hospital by ambulance. No one in the car was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The patrol is investigating the crash.
