Garden City, KS : Seven people injured in a two-vehicle accident in Kearny County on Sunday morning, July 24, 2016

Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Kearny County at approximately 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to the Kearny County Sheriff’s Office, Larry Ochs of Syracuse was traveling east on U.S. Highway 50 in a 2006 Buick Lucerne nine miles west of Lakin, and Griffin Brooks of Gardner was traveling east on U.S. Highway 50 in a 2012 Honda Civic. Brooks attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone. Both Ochs and Brooks steered onto the eastbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid the collision and collided with each other.

There were three passengers in Ochs’ vehicle and four in Brooks’ vehicle.

Seven people were transported to Kearny County Hospital by Kearny and Hamilton County EMS units. Four of them were later taken to Wichita hospitals, three by air and one by Kearny County ambulance.

The sheriff’s office was unable to provide the identities of those injured as of late Sunday night.
