ROCKFORD, IL : One person killed in Rockford auto accident on Monday, October, 9th 2017

A LaSalle woman has been identified by the Winnebago County coroner as the motorist who died this morning in a two-vehicle accident on South Alpine Road.

Lisa Barton, 34, was pronounced dead at 7:11 a.m. at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

The collision was reported at 6:30 a.m. Barton was a passenger in a car traveling south on Alpine Road. The driver of the car was in the process of turning left to enter the eastbound ramp to U.S. 20 when the car was struck by a northbound pickup, Coroner Bill Hintz said.

No information about the conditions of the driver of the car and the driver of the pickup were released.

The Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating.

An autopsy is pending.
