BRONX, NY : 1 dead, 1 critically injured in 5 car accident near Webster Avenue, in the Claremont section of the Bronx on Monday, 11th February 2019
A multiple-car accident early Monday morning on the Cross Bronx Expressway has left one person dead and another in critical condition.
Police say the accident occured just after 1 a.m. Monday near Webster Avenue, in the Claremont section of the Bronx.
The incident started as a two-car accident on the westbound side of the freeway. After the drivers of those cars got out of their cars to assess the situation, several other cars became involved, authorities said.
The NYPD reports there was a total of five cars involved. There was one victim dead at the scene and another victim in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
According to PIX11's Kirstin Cole, the deceased victim was reportedly thrown across the highway, into on-coming traffic.
The westbound side of the Cross Bronx Expressway remains closed in the area for investigation.
