SEDGWICK COUNTY, KS : 2 injured in crash on K-254 near 143rd East on Monday, 22nd July 2024

Two people suffered injuries, one critically in a crash Monday night on K-254 near 143rd East, in northeastern Sedgwick County.

In the single-vehicle crash, reported a little before 10 p.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol said a 2009 Dodge Caravan was traveling east on K-254, approaching 143rd when the driver realized she needed to turn south onto 143rd. The KHP said she braked too hard and the van’s tires locked up, causing the vehicle to lose control.

The van left the road and went into the south ditch where it hit an embankment.

The crash log from the KHP said the van’s driver, a 21-year-old woman from Wichita, had one child passenger in the vehicle.
