Gaston,NC : Man charged in deadly wreck on December, Friday 15th 2017
Police have charged a man with the deadly wreck that killed a Gaston County man Friday.
Eddie “Butch” Shook, 50, was driving his Chevrolet Malibu on East Hudson Boulevard just before 7 a.m. He was struck by a Ford F350 driven by Jadiel Gonzalez-Padron, who was driving south on Redbud Drive. Gonzalez-Padron ran a red light prior to the collision, Gastonia police say.
Shook died from his injuries shortly afterward at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Shook was a retired maintenance supervisor from North Gaston High School, where he worked for 30 years. He had also worked for the Dallas and Spencer Mountain volunteer fire departments.
A rear seat passenger in Shook’s vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Gonzalez-Padron, 22, of Charlotte, is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in relation to the wreck. He was given an unsecured bond and then released from the Gaston County Jail.
