Darien, CT : Pedestrian hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on I-95 in Darien on Tuesday, February 2, 2016

State Police have identified the person killed in an accident on I-95 in Darien Tuesday as Timothy John Sheridan, 49, of Stamford,
State Trooper First Class Kelly Grant said the accident is being investigated as an “untimely death” and there is “no criminal aspect” to the case. The investigation, however, is continuing.
State police said at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday, “Troop G (in Bridgeport) received numerous calls regarding a pedestrian that was reportedly struck by a tractor-trailer on I-95 northbound, north of Exit 9. Upon the arrival of emergency services. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by members of a Darien emergency services unit a 1 p.m. The victim was later identified as Timothy Sheriden, of Stamford.
“Investigative efforts, this far by state police are investigating this incident as an untimely death. The next of kin was noticied.”
An autopsy will be conducted at the office of the state’s Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington.
The crash created a more than seven-mile traffic back-up from Greenwich to Darien, between exits 2 and 10.
The state Department of Transportation reported the accident had been cleared at 3:42 p.m.
