Lucerne, CO : Greeley man, Eaton woman die after head-on collision on U.S. 85 on Saturday night, July 23, 2016

A Greeley man, 51, and an Eaton woman, 21, died Saturday night after a head-on collision at U.S. 85 and Weld County Road 70 near Lucerne. Their names have not yet been released.

The man, driving a 2000 Chevy S10, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 85 and collided with the woman, who was driving a Mitsubishi Galant.

The call came in about 9:25 p.m. Saturday.

“It looks like alcohol may have been involved,” said Colorado State Patrol trooper Tim Sutherland. “It’s being investigated.”

Neither car had passengers, Sutherland said.

The deaths are the 28th and 29th so far this year on Weld County roads and highways, compared to 33 on the same date a year ago.
