Knoxville, TN : White Pine man dies in motorcycle crash near Newport on Friday night, August 5, 2016

A White Pine man died on Interstate 40 in a motorcycle crash near Newport on Friday night, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Ryan Norton, 28, lost control of his motorcycle on a curve about one mile west of Exit 232, a THP report said, when he rode into the median from the westbound lane.

Norton was traveling about 70 mph when his 2009 Kawasaki ZXP hit a cable barrier in the median.

He wore a helmet, according to authorities.

The THP report said Norton was traveling too fast through the curve. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
