Ennis, TX : Garland resident died in motorcycle accident on State Highway 34 on Friday, January 27, 2017
A Garland resident lost his life after his motorcycle struck a pickup truck on Friday. Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the call at about 12:30 p.m.
"Preliminary investigation indicates a 1998 white Ford F-150 pickup was traveling east on State Highway 34 and a blue 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on State Highway 34," DPS Public Information Officers Sgt. Sara Warren said. "The Ford pickup, for an as yet undetermined reason, turned left in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the Ford."
Warren said the rider of the motorcycle, identified as John Dexter George, 39 was ejected off the bike and came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the roadway.
Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Jackie Miller Jr. was called out to the scene. Miller pronounced George dead at 1:24 p.m. He then ordered the body taken to the Dallas Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified by DPS as Ennis resident William Griffin, 45, was not injured in the accident. The cause of the accident has not been determined and remains under investigation by DPS at this time.
