Racine, WI : Bus crash reported at LaSalle and Shoreland on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016
A car sustained heavy damage after it reportedly crashed into the back of a city bus around the 5 p.m. hour Tuesday afternoon at LaSalle Street and Shoreland Drive on the city’s north side.
Racine fire officials said apparently no one was injured in the incident, and nobody was transported to the hospital from the scene by ambulance.
Only one ambulance responded to the call and it returned to the station shortly after leaving for the crash scene, fire officials said.
The car, a gray Hyundai Elantra, sustained major damage and had both of its airbags deployed. There was little evidence of any damage to the bus.
The crash occurred just in front of Christ the King Lutheran Church, where a Route No. 4 bus stop is located. The church is located at the southwest corner of the intersection. It was unclear if the bus was stopping at the bus stop at the time of the crash.
Bus No. 84 was the unit involved in the crash.
Traffic was closed for a time on both LaSalle and Shoreland while the crash scene was investigated and cleared.
