Scituate, R.I : Johnston crash involving Rhode Island State Police cruiser on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014

A Rhode Island State Police cruiser was involved in a crash Wednesday morning on Hartford Avenue in Johnston, officials at the state police reported in a news release Wednesday. Trooper Robert Hopkins was traveling west in the left travel lane in the 2600 block of Hartford Avenue when an eastbound Dodge driven by Abigail McShane, 34, of North Scituate, tried to make a left turn into a Cumberland Farms. As the Dodge crossed into the westbound lane, the cruiser struck it in the right rear quarter panel. The crash occurred during heavy rain, and poor visibility may have been a factor, a preliminary investigation indicates. Both vehicles were towed away. Hopkins was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and released. McShane was treated at Fatima Hospital and released. No charges have been filed. source : R.I.
