An officer with the Manchester Police Department may have been injured in a crash on Thursday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.
Officer Darrin Jennings II, 22, of Arlington, driving a 2015 Ford Explorer, was traveling on Route 11/30 around 12:50 p.m. Thursday when he struck a 2018 Jeep Compass being driven by Kaylee Henzie, 36, of Sunderland.
Police said they learned Henzie was turning left onto Route 11/30 from a parking lot on the south of the road. The traffic traveling east on Route 11/30 was backed up, but Henzie told police the driver of a truck waved her on and let her pull out to turn left, before the Jeep was hit by the Explorer.
The statement said Jennings had been driving in the center lane of the road because he was about to turn left onto Center Hill Road.
The statement said Henzie was not injured but Jennings was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington for undisclosed injuries.
