MOUNT VERNON, WA : One killed in possible DUI wreck near Mount Vernon on May, Friday 5th 2017

The Washington State Patrol reports that a driver of a pickup truck may have been impaired Friday night when his truck crossed the center line and collided with a car.The driver of the car was killed, and a passenger was injured. The pickup driver was also injured and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The State Patrol says the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on state Route 536 near Beaver Marsh Road about two miles west of Mount Vernon.

The pickup crossed the center line and collided with a Volkswagen Jetta, the State Patrol says. The driver of the Jetta, a 23-year-old Castle Rock man, was killed. He was not wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol says.

His 21-year-old female passenger was injured and taken to Skagit Valley Hospital.

The State Patrol suspects the 30-year-old driver of the pickup was impaired. He could face charges.
