Chadron, NE : Gering woman died in a crash on Highway 385 near Chadron State Park on Thursday, Nov 5, 2015

A Gering woman has died in a crash near the entrance of Chadron State Park in western Nebraska.

The Dawes County Attorney's Office told Scottsbluff Star-Herald on Friday that 55-year-old Karis Amateis died in the noon Thursday crash on Highway 385 near the park entrance.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Amateis crossed the center line and hit a northbound semi-truck driven by a 60-year-old Missouri man.

Investigators say Amateis was killed instantly. The truck driver was not injured.
