Johnstown, PA : Johnstown man identified as Route 271 crash victim on Sunday, January, 14th 2018
The victim has been identified in the fatal crash that occurred Sunday evening on Route 271 near Laurel Mountain Summit.
John P. Coyle, 53, of Johnstown, died when his 2004 Dodge Durango left the highway and struck a tree on the driver’s side door at 7:40 p.m., Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees said.
“An autopsy was conducted Monday, which confirmed the victim was killed instantly,” Lees said.
Although the crash occurred in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, Lees responded because Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller was on the scene of a death investigation in Quemahoning Township.
Cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, Lees said.
He ruled the manner of death as accidental.
