The driver of a motorcycle was seriously injured Friday in a crash with a pickup truck on U.S. 10 east of Walhalla in Mason County's Branch Township.
U.S. 10 was closed while the crash was being investigated by the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
The accident occurred on U.S. 10 at Taylor Road near the Emerson Lake Inn.
The call came in at 5:53 p.m. Friday, and emergency crews included the Branch Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, Pere Marquette Fire Department, DNR law enforcement and Life EMS.
The crash occurred when a Chevy pickup truck traveling east on U.S. 10 attempted a left turn into a parking lot and turned into the path of a westbound motorcycle, which struck the passenger side of the truck.
The driver of the pickup was uninjured; however, the passenger did sustain minor injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was seriously injured and was flown by Aero Med to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
U.S. 10 was closed for about two hours.
The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
