Miami,FL : 14-year-old killed, another teen loses arm in violent wreck on Miami’s Airport Expressway on November, Wednesday 22th 2017

One 14-year-old was killed and another lost his arm after an emergency roadside amputation when the car they were riding in careened into a guardrail on the Airport Expressway early Wednesday morning.

A third passenger, a 16-year-old boy, walked away with minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators say 14-year-old Jerome Gardner was behind the wheel of a BMW and was heading east on State Road 112 near Northwest 27th Avenue when he lost control. The car hit the guardrail at about 3:30 a.m.

Gardner died in the car. Clifton Patterson, 14, was critically injured, according to FHP. Carlton Smith, 16, was not injured.
