York County , SC: 21-year-old driver of the Kia was killed after 2009 Chevrolet box truck collided head-on with a Kia sedan near Sharon Elementary School on Tuesday , December 23rd 2014

South Carolina state troopers were investigating a deadly head-on crash early Tuesday morning in York County.

Troopers responded to the wreck just after 5 a.m. on Hickory Grove Road near Sharon Elementary School.


Officials told Channel 9 that a 2009 Chevrolet box truck collided head-on with a Kia sedan. The driver of the Kia, 21-year-old Whitney Robinson, of Sharon, was killed. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to investigators.

According to the York County Coroner's Office, an autopsy and toxicology will be completed Tuesday.

Troopers said 39-year-old Shannon Dean Mosley of Lake Wylie was driving the truck and he was not hurt.

Officials expected to have the road closed for several hours while they investigated the crash.
