Charlestown, R.I : Two taken to hospital in head-on crash in Charlestown on May 26, 2014

A car crash in Charlestown sent two people to the hospital Monday night. It happened around 5 p.m. on Route 1 near Ninigret Park.
Police say 17-year-old Savannah Cyr, of Westerly, was driving on Rt. 1 when she crossed the median and hit 29-year-old Jared Dichiara of who was driving in the northbound lane. An investigation shows Cyr attempted to use her brakes when the car in front of her slowed down, she then lost control of her Nissan and hit Dichiara’s Subaru.
Both drivers were taken to South County Hospital and treated for injuries, their conditions are unknown at this time.
Cyr is being cited with failure to maintain control of her vehicle and laned roadway violations. She will appear in traffic court to answer those charges.
