Fort Collins, CO : Motorcyclist killed in Monday crash identified on April, Monday 10th 2017

The motorcyclist who died in a three-vehicle crash in midtown Fort Collins on Monday has been identified.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office identified the man as Eduardo L. Torres, 20, of Fort Collins. The coroner determined that Torres' death was accidental and that he died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to a Tuesday news release.

Torres died after crashing into the side of a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Stacie Kenny of Fort Collins at the intersection of College Avenue and Swallow Road on Monday night, according to a Fort Collins Police Services news release.

He and a juvenile rider on another motorcycle were traveling south on College when the Tahoe made a left turn onto Swallow in front of them.

The juvenile rider, who has not been identified, laid his motorcycle down on the roadway to avoid crashing into the Tahoe. He was hospitalized at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland with serious injuries.

Torres crashed into the right rear side of the Tahoe and died at the scene. Kenny, 46, and her two unidentified passengers were uninjured in the crash.

The call for the crash came in shortly before 7:30 p.m., and the intersection was closed for about five hours while the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team investigated. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have yet been filed.

Police are examining whether the speed of the motorcycles played a factor in the crash, according to the police news release.

Anyone who has information and has not spoken to law enforcement is asked to contact police officer Tim Brennan at 970-416-2229.

Torres' death was the sixth fatality on roads in Larimer County this year. By this time last year, 13 people had died, according to records maintained by the Coloradoan and the Larimer County Coroner's office.
