Sarasota, FL : Sleepy driver causes 4-car accident in Manatee County on Sunday night, August 21, 2016
A driver falling asleep at the wheel caused a four-vehicle accident late Sunday night in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to reports, Vetra A. Raysor, 50, of Bradenton was westbound in the right lane on Cortez Road, just east of the intersection with 26th Street West in a Toyota Camry. At the same time, in the right turn lane, was a Ford Explorer driven by Kenneth M. Kiss, 44, of Bradenton and a Ford Taurus driven by Josue Morales, 39, of Sarasota. Also at the same time, moving west on Cortez Road in the left lane was Malik G. Grown, 19, of Palmetto, with a passenger, Joselin Presswood, 19, of Bradenton, in a Toyota Rav4.
The FHP reports Raysor fell asleep while driving and drifted into the right turn lane, striking Kiss' car and overturning. She then struck Brown's and Morales' vehicles.
Raysor suffered serious injuries and was taken to Blake Medical Center. Presswood suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Blake.
The FHP says alcohol was not involved in the crash.
