Emporia, VA : 41-year-old woman dies after crash on I-95, south of Moore's Ferry Road on Sunday, Aug 9, 2015

A 41-year-old woman who fell asleep while driving on Interstate 95 and crashed has died.

Today about 5:30 a.m., Virginia State Police were called to I-95, south of Moore's Ferry Road, for the crash. Kimberly Winter of Wethersfield, Conn., was traveling south on the interstate when she fell asleep and her 2009 Toyota Corolla went off the road and struck a tree, according to a news release.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Winter was taken to Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia, where she died of her injuries.
