Miami, OK : Ottawa Co. deputy in Hwy.10 crash east of Miami on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017
An Ottawa County Sheriff's Deputy took a hit in a two vehicle crash around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, on Highway 10 east of Miami.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brian McSlarrow who responded to the call, Ottawa County Sheriff Deputy Ray Harvey's patrol vehicle was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by Heather Dagnett, 42, of Miami.
Dagnett was eastbound, and was possibly trying to make a turn into Neece Concrete Construction's drive entry when her vehicle went left of center striking Harvey's patrol car in the front driver's side, according to McSlarrow.
"It looked like she was kind of hunting for the driveway," McSlarrow said.
Both Dagnett and Harvey were transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin Missouri, where they were treated and released.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, seat belts were in use by both drivers and airbags deployed.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged by the impact, according to McSlarrow.
Harvey, who resides in Grove, has served as a Grove Police Officer and is a member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribal Police Department.
