Longview,WA : Man crashes truck into side of Safeway on July, Sunday 23th 2017
A man was airlifted to Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver early Sunday morning after crashing his pickup truck into the side of the Safeway grocery store near Three Rivers Mall.
Kelso Police said the man exhibited signs of intoxication, and a blood test is forthcoming.
According to a witness, the vehicle struck a curb in the parking lot while traveling at a high speed and rolled over. The witness said the vehicle then righted itself, drove over an embankment and stopped after colliding with a cinder block wall.
Moments after the collision, police found Justin Williamson, 21, of Longview, in the driver’s seat semi-conscious and injured. Despite his injuries, police said Williamson continued to try to start the car and drive away even though the keys had been removed from the ignition. According to the report, Williamson refused attempts by firefighters to administer medical aid. Firefighters eventually removed the roof of the pickup truck to extract him.
A records check revealed that Williamson’s license has been suspended and he has a pending DUI in Longview Municipal Court from an incident in January.
