Terre Haute, IN : One injured in morning crash on I-70 on Tuesday, 16th August, 2016

A Michigan man was injured in a single-car crash on Interstate 70 on Tuesday morning, officials said.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff's Department, David Surrette, 67, of Flint, Mich., was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to deputies, Surrette was traveling east on Interstate 70 when he apparently fell asleep and left the roadway traveling down a steep embankment where his vehicle struck some small trees.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. near the Riley/Terre Haute exit.

Surrette was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags deployed.
