Madisonville, KY : A Webster County resident was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Monday, December, 4th 2017

A Webster County resident was injured in a one-vehicle accident this week when the driver hit a utility pole after apparently swerving to miss a deer.

According to a preliminary release by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, Shannon Paul, 38, of Slaughters was traveling east on Jewel City Road in a 1999 Dodge Durango at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday when the deer ran out in front of her. After Paul swerved, she traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole with the front end of her vehicle. The Durango caught fire for a short time while Paul was able to exit the vehicle from the passenger side.

Paul was taken by Medical Center Ambulance Service to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville and treated for non-life threatening injuries. HCSO was assisted by the Hanson Fire Department and Kenergy electric company.
