Middletown, MD : One dead in fiery crash on Interstate 70 near Harmony Road on Tuesday, 24th December, 2019
One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Harmony Road Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland State Police.
Troopers responded to a vehicle fire on I-70 at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday where they found a 2004 Ford Taurus had been traveling east on I-70 near Middletown, according to a state police press release.For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road, down a hill, and came to final rest in Little Catoctin Creek, the release said. The vehicle then caught fire with the driver trapped inside.
State police believe the driver, who died, lived outside of the state, but police have not positively identified the person.
A crash reconstruction is being conducted by troopers at the Frederick Barrack. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has information is asked to contact the Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150.
