Huerfano County, CO : Passengers injured in Huerfano County charter bus crash on Interstate 25 south of Walsenburg on Thursday, 28th November, 2019
Several passengers aboard a charter bus in Huerfano County were injured seriously in a crash on icy roads, according to a State Patrol news release Thursday.
The crash happened on Interstate 25 south of Walsenburg.
Forty-nine people between ages 4 and 83 were aboard the bus. Passengers suffered minor to life-threatening injuries, officials said.
About 5:30 Thursday morning, a white 2017 Vanhool charter bus was headed north on I-25 in Huerfano County when the driver of the bus lost control on the icy road, CSP said.The bus spun clockwise, ran off the right side of the road, rolled, and came to rest on its top, facing south, officers said.
Alberto Torres, 53, was driving the bus and has been charged with careless driving causing bodily injury, the State Patrol said.
Officials are considering excessive speed to be a factor in the crash.
