Gainesville, FL : Newberry man dies after car crash in Levy County on Thursday, May 12, 2016

A Newberry man died after crashing his car Thursday at noon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

James Frank Hope, 77, was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma north on County Road 345 in Levy County. He steered across the southbound lane and then off the road into the west grass shoulder. The front of Hope’s truck hit a utility pole and a wire fence. The vehicle overturned and its undercarriage collided with three trees.

Hope was wearing a seatbelt, but his injuries were fatal.
